PIERRE, S.D.(KCCR)- The America 250 Planning Committee met Thursday to continue putting together how South Dakota plans on celebrating the 250th birthday of the U-S-A. One effort being targeted is Walk 250 by 2026. The goal would be to get South Dakotans to walk a mile for each year America has been around and doing so by taking in South Dakota attractions on foot.
Nick Harrington says distance or location-based prizes may be a part of the effort.
Jamie Hageman says they are already getting input for participation.
The Committee also discussed a collaboration with the University of South Dakota on the Indian Citizenship Act and a Library Book program across the state.
