HAZEL, S.D.(Press Release)- A vehicle was found stuck in a road construction site in Hamlin County early Sunday morning, leading to citations for a local woman.
At approximately 1 a.m. on June 9th, 2024, a vehicle reportedly bypassed road closure barricades on County Road 438 and 183rd Street. The vehicle subsequently became stuck at the site where a bridge over the railroad used to be. The driver, a 20-year-old woman from Clark, remained in the vehicle overnight.
A sheriff’s deputy was dispatched to the scene at around 8 a.m. Upon arrival, the deputy found the vehicle still lodged in the construction area. The driver was cited for Driving without a Driver’s License and Driving on a Closed Road.
The Hamlin County Sheriff’s Office reminds residents to adhere to road closure signs and to avoid driving through construction zones for their safety and the safety of construction workers.
