Grace Wood, 94

Grace “Jo” Wood passed away peacefully on Saturday, January 13, 2024, at Community Memorial Hospital in Redfield, SD.

Her funeral service will be at 10:30 AM on Tuesday, July 2, 2024, at the First Congregational United Church of Christ in Redfield with Reverend Keith C. Kraft officiating.  Burial will follow at Greenlawn Cemetery in Redfield.

Grace “Jo” was born in Clear Lake, SD on December 6, 1929, to Hans and Meta Walter.  She attended and graduated from Clear Lake Schools.

She went to Minneapolis, MN and worked as a lab and X-Ray technician where she met her future husband, H.R. “Ray” Wood.

On December 27, 1950, they married and to this union three boys were born.  They lived in Redfield until 1967, when they moved to the farm north of Doland, SD.  She graduated from Presentation College in Aberdeen, SD and worked at various hospitals as well as private duty nursing.  She was a devoted mother and housewife.

She loved to garden, hunt pheasants, fish at the Missouri River, and fly.  She especially enjoyed being with family.

She is survived by her son Terry, of Mustang, OK.  She is also survived by four grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

Two sons and her husband preceded her in death.
