WATERTOWN, S.D.(KWAT)–Hearings on a proposed CO2 pipeline in South Dakota were held before the Public Utilities Commission this month, but those hearings aren’t done yet.

Commissioner Chris Nelson:

The $3 billion pipeline, if permitted by the PUC, would capture CO2 from 21 ethanol plants and several fertilizer plants.

The Navigator Heartland Greenway pipeline would run through 112 miles of eastern South Dakota in Brookings, Moody, Minnehaha, Lincoln and Turner counties.

Nelson was asked how the first 10 days of hearings on the pipeline went.

After a decision is made on a permit for the Navigator pipeline, the PUC will begin hearings on a second pipeline proposed by Summit Carbon Solutions.
