Saints’ WBB Squad Splits a Pair in Mayville, ND

The Presentation College Saints fell to Mayville State University by a score of 75-47. The game was close at halftime, with the Comets only holding a 25-22 lead. But they would control the second half, outscoring the Saints 50-25. The win brought the Comets to 5-1 on the season, while the loss dropped the Saints to 1-6.

On offense, it was two players that did over 60% of the scoring, with Emma Ogitchida scoring 16 and Brittiney Seymour scoring 14. Seymour also led the team in rebounds with six.

The Comets were led by Mackenzie Hughes, who scored 23 points off the bench.

 

SATURDAY

The Presentation College Saints beat Valley City by a score of 54-50. The win is their second of the season, and brings their record up to 2-6, while the Vikings fall to 2-5.

The two teams stayed close the entire first half with Valley City winning the first quarter 14-12 and the second quarter 18-14. They took a 32-26 lead into halftime. With a minute left in the third quarter, the Vikings held a 13-point lead, their largest of the game. The Saints went on a 5-0 run to close out the quarter, and get the lead down to eight as the game headed to the fourth and final quarter.

The fourth quarter was all Saints, as they outscored the Vikings 17-5. Al Morones led the team with 12 points in the game, with five of them coming in the fourth. The Saints had two other double-digit scorers in Emma Ogitchida and Brittiney Seymour each scoring 10.

Saints coach Carley Jeffery said after the game, “I am so proud of the way that our team continues to battle game in and game out. We were down 13 late in the third, and found ways to get back into it. This was a huge win for our program, and we couldn’t be more proud of our team.”
