NSU Swimmers Compete in 3-Day Augustana Mid-Season Meet

SIOUX FALLS, SD (NSUWolves.com) –

FRIDAY

The Northern State swim team currently sits in seventh place with 161 total points through two days at the Augustana Mid-Season Meet. All of Northern’s top swimmers in each event and both top relay teams recorded season-best times on Friday.

HOW IT HAPPENED

· The finals session began with a 12thplace finish for the Northern State 200 yard free relay, when the team of Marialuisa Avila, Mia Fursedonne, Haley Osborne, and Connor Doran finished with a time of 1:39.59

· Lauren Forsyth earned a top-15 finish in the 400 IM, she hit the wall in a time of 4:47.37 for a 14th place finish

· Osborne was the top Wolves swimmer in the 200 free, recording a time of 1:56.85

· In the 100 yard breaststroke Mayson Sheldon was the lone NSU swimmer to compete in the finals, she finished with a time of 1:09.58 for a 30th place finish

· Gonzales was the second Northern swimmer to earn a top-15 finish, finishing with a time of 58.47 for a 13th place finish in the 100 yard backstroke

· Northern State ended the finals session with an 18th place finish in the 400 yard medley relay with the team of Maddie Gonzales, Mayson Sheldon, Marialuisa Avila, and Connor Doran recording a time of 4:03.80

 

SATURDAY

Northern State swam to a seventh place finish at the Augustana Mid-Season Meet, ending with a total team score of 245 points. The Wolves finished 5th out of the seven competing NSIC teams and 7th overall.

HOW IT HAPPENED

  • Northern State’s first top-5 finish of the invite came in the 200 yard backstroke when Maddie Gonzales finished fourth with a time of 2:04.31
  • Haley Osborne was the top Northern swimmer in the 100 yard freestyle with a time of 53.35
  • Competing in the B final of the 200 yard breaststroke, Fanny Legros claimed 20th place in the event with a time of 2:34.87
  • Mayson Sheldon swam in the C final of the 200 yard breaststroke and record 23rd place finish in the event, hitting the wall in a time of 2:31.26
  • Lauren Forsyth earned the Wolves second top-5 finish of the day with a fourth place finish in the 200 yard butterfly, recording a time of 2:09.52
  • In the 1650 yard freestyle, Fanny Legros swam to a 19th place finish in a time of 18:33.86
  • In the final event of the meet, the Northern State relay team of Delaney Ryken, Mia Fursedonne, Connor Doran, and Haley Osborne, recorded a 12th place finish in a time of 3:36.28
