NSU Swimmers Compete on Day One of Mid-Season Meet

SIOUX FALLS, SD (NSUWolves.com) – The Northern State women’s swim team accumulated 89 team points on day one of the Augustana Mid-Season Meet. During Thursday night’s finals session all seven individuals and all four relay teams raced to season best times.

HOW IT HAPPENED

  • Northern State had the team of Mia Fursedonne, Mayson Sheldon, Marialuisa Avila, and Connor Doran lead the way in the 200 yard medley relay with a 17th place finish and time of 1:50.17
  • Northern’s second 200 yard medley relay team of Maddie Gonzales, Kennedy Davis, Lauren Forsyth, and Georgy Turner recorded a time of 1:52.98 for a 26th place finish
  • The biggest time improvement of the day came in the 500 yard freestyle when Haley Osborne beat her previous season best time by nearly 20 seconds, when she recorded a 15th place finish in a time of 5:12.92
  • The Wolves had two swimmers in the 200 yard IM finals, in the B final Maddie Gonzales hit the wall in a time of 2:11.76 for a 15th place finish while Brianna Back competed in the C final and finished 25th place with a time of 2:15.14
  • Marialuisa Avila and Lauren Forsyth tied for 14th place in the B final of the 100 yard butterfly, both finishing in 58.29
  • The C final of the 100 yard butterfly saw Georgy Turner place 23rd with a time of 59.67 and Connor Doran finished 29th in a time of 1:00.48
  • Northern’s best finish of the day came in the 800 yard freestyle relay with a tenth place finish by Brianna Back, Fanny Legros, Connor Doran, and Haley Osborne with a time of 7:57.40
  • NSU’s second relay team in the 800 yard freestyle had Hannah Kiernan, Kenzi Matson, Mayson Sheldon, and Delaney Ryken finish 22nd in a time of 8:31.33

UP NEXT

  • Day two of the Augustana Mid-Season Meet begins at 9:30 a.m. with the Wolves competing in the prelims for the 400 IM, 200 free, 100 breast, and 100 back. The finals will begin at 4:30 p.m. with the swimming events following the diving finals.
